-- One Of The Best Trail-Touring Sleds I've Ridden To Date --
I bought this sled for my wife. She fell in love with it immediately after she started driving it. In an instant, she forgot all about her old '95 Arctic Cat Panther Deluxe. I put almost 50 miles on the Z1 (non-turbo) through some of the trails. I was impressed with the light steering, the quiet, powerful engine and the light feel of the sled. This is a big sled. The front gets heavy and will sink into deep snow. This machine is not a ditch banger nor was it intended for such. The Suzuki twin cylinder 1,056cc non-turbo motor puts out an impressive 118-120 horsepower and will hurl this sled at speeds approaching 95-100 mph. My wife will never know or experience this; she never goes over 40 mph. (The turbo-charged version of this machine must be almost unbelieveable from my point of view). The fit and finish of this machine is good but in my opinion could be better. The plastic panels on the cowling don't fit together tightly and rattle. The handlebars are ergonomically curved and feel very good. The grip and thumb warmers work very well and the controls are easy to manipulate with gloved hands. The pushbutton reverse feature on the handlebars is convenient. The standard gauge is readable and functional with integrated fuel gauge, grip and thumb warmer heat status, oil pressure, electrical and temperature warning lights. The ride of this machine is plush and very comfortable. This is the selling point of the sled, again, in my opinion. I hate to admit it, but the Arctic Cat Z1 delivered a more comfortable ride than my Yamaha Apex. The Arctic Cat Z1 has better fuel economy, also. If you have a chance to ride one of these, I urge you do so. You'll be pleased at the Arctic Cat Z1's ride. If you want something completely out of this world, ride the turbo version.
