2008 Yamaha FX® HO Watercraft - Overall, An Excellent Ride

I purchased this watercraft new in May, 2008. After riding in various waters/conditions, the craft is overall an excellent ride. Even with rides as long as 40 miles each way, the machine stays comfortable (excellent seat). The engine is reliable except for an annual fouled plug (no biggie). There is plenty of usable space and fuel economy is above average when not wide-open. There is plenty of pulling power for skiers and slalom runs. The handling is OK as this craft sits higher out of the water than others (Kawasaki STX). The only real fault is the deep foot wells which hold lots of water. This is annoying in cold water and when ocean riding can give an un-nerving 'flipping over' feeling when waves are crashing down upon you. Pull throttle to correct. Overall, it's a great watercraft as this 2008 model has the HO 1100cc smaller engine with the lighter nanoexcel hull. It's the best of both worlds if you ask me. Go one model newer and you get a thirstier/ heavier craft. One model older and you get the additional hull weight.
