-- Arctic Cat TZ1 review - 2 up sled --
I purchased the TZ1 used with 6000kms on it. I put 3000kms on it this past season and loved every one of them. The first thing I noticed about the TZ1 is the rider comfort for both the driver and passenger. There is just enough room left for my two small children to ride with me and my wife. The seat is high enough that my legs are not cramped up and I can ride comfortably for a long distance. From my first ride on the TZ1 I was most impressed with the ride. This machine absorbs the drifts and bumps like no other sled I have owned. While this machine is not designed for ditch banging it seems to have the ability to not throw the driver on the bumps. The TZ1 also seems to plant the skis down onto the snow when accelerating which is great for cornering. The TZ1's steering is quit light considering this is a heavier sled. This makes it easy to drive even for my wife. Where I do notice the weight of this sled is in deep snow. If you are not careful in really deep snow the front end will tend to dive in on one ski or the other. Powder skis would help if you are riding in more than a foot of soft powder. The power of this sled is good. While not a racer it performs well. In a race with my old sled, an Arctic Cat Mountain Cat 700 they are very even. Although the power of the TZ1 is much more managable and smooth. The clutch engages much sooner making it quicker of the line. Top speed on a lake is about 93 mph. Fuel economy is very good and of course no 2 cycle oil needed. Reliabiliy and quality have been very good. Other than replacing worn slides and a belt I have not had to do anything else. Watch that the oil filters are torqued down to spec though. If they are not they can loosen causing you to rapidly loose engine oil which sprays onto your drive belt making it slip. Riding the TZ1 you would not realize you were riding a touring sled if you did not look back to see the extra seat. The back seat comes off easily as well if you want a single seat looking sled occationaly. I would highly recommend the TZ1 sled.
