-- Don't buy anything but Yamahas --
I have three YFZ 450s and love these quads. They are built great and can take a beating that is unreal. I have a ‘04 that I bought brand new and to this day this quad still rips. I have never had a problem with this quad and I ride very hard. The ‘08 is also a great quad, but when I bought it I instantly had to rejet it (Yamahas are coming very lean from the factory). This quad is an absolute animal. I can pull it up in fifth no problem. Out of turns when you romp on it, it feels like the frame is twisting there is some much power there. Do not buy any other 450. I have ridden others brands and they are garbage. Some transmissions whine and they do not have the power that Yamaha has. Some run super hot and have no power stock. Others are just out of the game in my opinion - they have done nothing to stay with the competition. Some are just too expensive. Go with Yamaha! You will not be disappointed.
Upgrades/Accessories
On my ‘04 YFZ I put Hot Cams in it, retarded the cam, high compressions piston, Curtis Sparks big core exhaust (which is very loud and sounds awesome - I will never ever buy anything but Sparks exhausts - my buddy lives two miles away and when I ride my quad he can hear it), Sparks supercharger air filter kit. Carb mods, Renthal sprockets, D.I.D. x-ring chain. On my ‘08 YFZ I also have another Sparks big core, Tag Metals +1 stem and fat bars, DG front bumper, DG nerfs, Quick Shot2, rejetted, Sparks filter, D.I.D. X-ring which is a great chain. DG skid plate. Quad Tech seat and hood. MXR4 tires in rear, etc.
